A New year

2025 is here. Already. Holy cow… Lately I’ve been pondering a lot about what I want to do, how to get started, and the time that’s passed me by. Which is why I’m here.

Nikki was asking me yesterday about New Year Resolutions. There’s only two things on my list. The first involves getting healthier so I can feel better which involves eating better and getting more exercise. The second is to turn our house into a cozy, comfortable home that we all enjoy being in.

We’ve been living in this house for a few months shy of 5 years now and honestly, I’ve not done much at all to make it a “home”. I’m hoping to drastically change that this year. *fingers crossed*

My 1st big project is going to be Nikki’s room. This is for numerous reasons but the main one being that I want her to like her space, feel comfortable in it, and have a space she really enjoys being in. If I’m being brutally honest, right now her room is simply a crowded mess. For Christmas this year we got her one of those pod / tent indoor swings on a stand which I would love for her to have in her room (right now it’s set up in the living room). Plus Santa brought her a TV for her room (even though I told her a few months ago that I didn’t think a TV in her room was a good idea) plus she has no space for one currently. I’ve actually scheduled in my planner 30 minutes 5 days a week to go in there and clean up and clear out unloved / unwanted items. Hopefully that will be a quick process. Again *fingers crossed*.

My ADHD is a curse when it comes to things like these because I simply have a hard time staying on one task long enough to finish it. Hopefully, by having a bunch of smaller broken down, step-by-step plans for various spaces, I can bounce around without loosing focus and momentum. We’ll see.

As far as crafting and quilting, I don’t really have any big or solid plans yet. I did just see the free BOM that Jenny from Elefantz is hosting and I think it’s going to be very pretty so I’m hoping to do that one. Oh, and I’m going to try to do the BOM that The Quilt Show is doing called Laurel Ridge. I had a plan in mind for that before I went fabric shopping, but then I seen a very dark blue fabric and it turned my original idea on it’s head. Here’s to hoping that the end result turns out how I envisioned it at the store. Nothing like spur of the moment drastic changes. LOL

Also this year, I really want to build at least a few raised garden beds off the kitchen side of the house for me to get back to gardening my style (intensive, raised beds), instead of the tedious, work heavy traditional row gardening my hubby does.

Here’s to a wonderful, meaningful, productive 2025 for everyone!
Until next time, have fun and enjoy your day!
